Paulus Andreas, 28, who was already a fugitive from the law before his subsequent arrest in Rundu two days after the killing, appeared in the Okahandja Magistrates’ Court last week Monday, where he was denied bail, with his next appearance in court set for 14 May. According to Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb, Andreas, who was the victim’s ex-boyfriend, and the second suspect who was the victim’s partner at the time, were arrested after eyewitnesses placed both the two suspects at the scene of the crime. He said the current boyfriend, during initial police interrogation accused Andreas of committing the heinous crime, after he apparently saw him leaving the house with a metal pipe in hand. The body of the victim was discovered after the police were called to her residence in Okahandja’s Nau-Aib residential area on the evening of the murder. According to Khairabeb, the victim’s wounds pointed to a struggle, as she bore a large gash on her head inflicted with some sort of blunt object and had visible marks on her neck, which indicate that she might have been strangled as well.
