Exactly 1 year ago today, my mom had Major Heart Surgery (Valve Replacement)Recovery was extremely tough on her, my sister and I. It still is. This morning was the first time she ever set her alarm to get up early and get her walk done (hot out) She walked 4 miles in about 2 hours with a few stops in there to catch her wind. This is MONUMENTAL for her and as much as I Love my Mom - I have Never Been more Proud of her as I was today when she told me that. Shes never been a physical person and growing up, women were supposed to be ladies in her time, so she didnt do a lot of exercise or training type stuff. I get it, so does she and she sees how strength can help her never have to go back to how she felt. It tells me that she has taken back control of her Health and made it a priority. It also tells me that from Point A, a year ago today, she has made it to Point B (able to be in control.) She also knows the journey isnt over and has set her sights on Point C (Strength Training with me) :) I want her to take another month and just walk, but we will be getting strong for this winter and in a year from now, who knows, maybe she will be Swinging a Bell with me :) She also wants you all to know that you can do it, especially if she can - So Go Do It!!! Be Well - John Strength. Tenacity. Resilience.
