Exactly 40 Years ago on this day in 1974 I started my worklife! Because September, 1st was a Sunday – I did start on Monday, September 2nd 1974 my Apprenticeship as Optician for 4 years, later for another 3 more years as Optometrist. I did many Extra Lections for Contact Lens Fitting and Optometry. I worked in Germany, later in the US, the UK and then in Switzerland. I started to work in Optical Shops, then became the Shop Manager in 6 of these shops, having sometimes up to 30 colleagues working for and with me. I also worked for AAFES, the US Military Optical Chain all over. The last position in Optics was for Fielmann in Zurich, managing the largest Contact Lens Studio in the World. I moved on to explore the ‘other’ side of the Business. So I joined CIBA Vision International, serving and traveling the World. Then I moved on to the Ziemer Company and now I work for Alcon in Ophthalmics and Surgical. I always loved my work. It is selling frames and lenses, fitting contact lenses, doing eye tests and much much much more. I wasn’t very happy then on September 2nd in 1974, it was a cold and rainy Monday and I was a very spoiled kid…But I am happy and proud now, to stay so long and successful in this Business. But there is a Time for Everything. So I decided to end my time in this Business by November this year. I was always open for a challenge - Lets see what the future brings
