Exactly!!!! When it comes to Newsweek‘s cover story, “The Bible: So Misunderstood It’s a Sin,” Eichenwald appears to be far outside his area of expertise and knowledge. More to the point, he really does not address the subject of the Bible like a reporter at all. His article is a hit-piece that lacks any journalistic balance or credibility. His only sources cited within the article are from severe critics of evangelical Christianity, and he does not even represent some of them accurately. Like I said... I know Christmas was just a few days ago and this is going to seem like a Negative Nancy post... But In response to - The bible so misunderstood its a sin The bible is not up for personal interpretation! 2 PETER 1:20 (KJV) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. John 14:26 (KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 1st: Get saved! Going to church and confessing your sins, then turning right back around and living the same way, is not the fruit of a saved person. The bible speaks of this type of people as, having a form of Godliness but denying the power thereof, FROM SUCH TURN AWAY (2 Tim.3:5) They have no power to live the life. You cannot pick and choose what scriptures to believe and which ones you are ok to over look. You need the WHOLE WORD... You cannot straddle the fence and expect to live in the fullness of Gods will. 2nd: If you are not spending time in the word of God, have a personal prayer life, attending church, etc to maintain a life with God: where he is magnified and provides HIS DIVINE SUPERIOR guidance, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, you cannot expect to understand the word of God. You cannot expect to be able to live and serve him. He is the only way you have the power and ability to live for him!!! John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 3rd: when you post and provide teaching or your understanding, for the word of God, you take the chance of misleading and deceiving the people who read or hear your message. Do you want to be responsible for their misguided actions? Preachers and Teachers of the word have a magnificent task in beginning and continuing in their God given anointing to provide the saving knowledge of Christ and spiritual and physical standards of God for every saved person within the word. Know God!!! Know his word!!!
