Exactly today 31 years ago, a coup was successfully carried out by Buhari and cohorts. Happy anniversary Nigerians. A democratically elected government of Shehu Shagari/ Alexander Ifeanychukwu Ekwueme was ousted for little or no reason. Shagari a teacher by profession and Ekwueme architect by profession. The reasons for the coup cannot be substantiated in a matter of time as both President and VP were cleared of all wrongs by the same gang own Tribunal. More than that as years come and go, if we strike a fair balance between then and what happened afterwards you will arrive at inescapable conclusion that the military gang led by Buhari and co caused collateral damaged to the country than avoidable civil war. I am not trying to playing down civil war itself but saying that halting our efforts to get over civil is adding salt to open wound. NPN led Govt may not be saint but they recognized the need for true reconciliation hence Dr Ekwueme VP 10 years after the civil war. Gowon pardoned, Late Dim Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu followed suit. We were on the march again , UPN doing their best in todays SW , so also NPP in the East. Jakande was wonderful in all areas. I will say we never had so good on even date. Sam Onunaku Mbakwe was wonderful and hungry to deliever etc. Jim Nwobodo opted alternative to beat Imo state education by Govt community partnership that saw many communities building 4 secondary schools within 4 yrs in Anambra state. Jim Nwobodo fought and eradicated geniue warm in Abakiliki etc. He opened up many communities with road construction. Todays Umuchu/Umunze/Amesi/Uga/Igboukwu was surveyed and designed by Jim. He did major works on the road. The same was NPN Govs. As soon as Buhari and co intervened all development efforts of the civilian regime were halted. All the projects started by civilian Govs were abandoned by MILAD appointed by Buhari. My home town example is Umuchu/Umunze/Amesi/Uga/Igboukwu road, this road remained where Nwoboodo stopped until 29.12.2005 then Gov Ngige on a stolen mandate flagged off the complete construction of the road. I remind you that Buhari was there for 20 months as he appointed manager for the state. Today we talk about our turn and your turn etc assuming the second republic continued all sections of the country must have enjoyed the so called Aso sweet. Congrats Buhari and congrats to everyone who lost their senses in the past 30 years.
