Excellence and Nobility of Hazrat Umar r.a When the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam started preaching Islam , few noble and blessed souls accepted the call while most rejected and opposed the prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam . He then prayed to Allah , O Allah! Help Islam with either Amr bin Hishaam (Abu Jahl) or Umar ibn Khattaab. Allah accepted the duaa of his beloved prophet in favour of Umar. When he came to the prophet and accepted Islam , Jibreel came and asked the prophet , Ya Rasoolallah ! Are you happy at the Islam of Umar? to which the prophet replied ,Yes. Jibreel a.s then said , Ya Rasoolallah, all the angels are also happy that Umar has accepted Islam (Ibn Majah). Before Hazrat Umar accepted Islam , muslims used to pray in secrecy , but after he accepted Islam and with him on their side ,they were able to pray openly , even in the haram. When muslims started migrating to Madinah, everybody migrated secretly, except Umar r.a. He came to the Kaba , calmly made tawaaf, then went upto where the mushrikeen were sitting and addressed them saying , Anybody who wants their mother to cry over them , their wife to become a widow and children to become orphan , let him come and meet me outside haram. (enroute to Madinah). Abdullah ibn Masoud r.a said , Umars Islam was victory , his migration a help and his khilaafah a mercy for muslims. The prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallsm said, If there was to be another prophet after me, it would have been Umar. He further said to Umar r.a , I swear by him who holds my life in his hands , Shaitaan cannot face you on the same path. When he sees you, he takes another path. On another occasion , the prophet said, Allah has placed HAQ (truth) on the heart and tongue of Umar. There were more than twenty occasions when Umar r.a said something, Allah liked what he said so much , that he included it in wahee (revelation ) and made it part of Quran. In fact according to another saheeh hadeeth, the prophet said, Verrily, in the previous nations , there were people Allah used to talk to, and if there is any such a person in my Ummah, it is Umar. Once the prophet saw a beautiful palace in paradise carved out of a white pearl. Seeing its beauty he asked Jibreel , Who is the owner of this palace ? Jibreel replied ,A young man of Quraish. The prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam thought that because he is also from Quraish, it might be his. Jibreel alaihissalaam then said, It belongs to UMAR. Radi Allaho anho.
