Excellent idea and discussion from an FB friend who is a professor at UIC. She shares that she has her students in her Postcolonial Literature Class learn knitting or crochet to understand what hand work is like and the transition from cottage craft to industry. Awesome idea. Naturally, she notes, that she tends to create a new crafter or two each year, who carries on with it afterwards. Also, kinda the best. That is comes after a couple of weeks of regular talk on fiber crafts in our home, and even today, reading an article on weaving in early American pioneer homes, is just great.
