Excerpt from Hinks journal Apr. 14, 1979: Sometimes, the greatest challenge of the day is dealing with the sheer weight of triviality. Today Ive spent a good deal of time sweating over a legal textbook trying to unwrap the arcane secret of a legal principle beginning no one knows where. A few days ago, the people of Uganda overthrew the monstrous rule if Idi Amin. Sitting here at this law school, we have no concept of the blood spilled in the run-up to this seismic event, and we are completely in the dark as to how much blood will be spent in the aftermath. But I have responsibilities now, so Ill just grit my teeth, choke on the rules and turn off the news. God help those folks.
