Excerpt from The Dissolution of Hierarchy in Society A Philosophical Thesis by Jason Burruss Chapter 3 - Technological Empowerment The rights of the average citizen are held in balance. As political and economical powers seek to control the minds of the masses this open source technology age helps illuminate and free minds. The ability for humanity to escape college debt and corporate enslavement and create small businesses by utilizing the free network of information that is readily available on the internet is a movement of liberation. We now have access to infinite information on vast amounts of subject matter. We also have the ability to network and sell products without the overheads that cause most small businesses to fail (retail merchant expenses). This freedom allows independent artists and businesses to thrive through the use of a free marketplace that lowers the business expenses compared to normal retail store fronts. An open market and library (i.e. the internet) is available for those who choose not to work in Americas capitalistic driven marketplace controlled by the high tiers of economic power and control. The last example of such an age was when the lost city of Alexandria was thriving with knowledge and culture in a Mecca of philosophy and arts. This modern technology age is also a mecca of culture and philosophy, where beliefs, ideas, innovations, and artistic visions can be shared openly and publicly. Viral marketing empowers those whose creative strength shines a bright light amidst the grey and boring landscape of past cultural ideals and beliefs. New forms of art and music arise through this surge in viral internet communications that empowers the unique and creative individuals who are on the horizon of a budding cultural change or revolution. Opportunity is given to those who excel in cultural breakthroughs. Music, has become almost free and openly shared, pushing musicians and producers to innovate and create unique sound design and live performances or lose their voice within a sea of mediocrity. The artists who excel are supported by fans who choose to share their voice with their own fan base, creating a community network as shown by the recent uprising of soundcloud. This community grows stronger and begins to compete with commercial labels who produce target marketed mainstream sounds that are often uninspired and creative. Art, now can be viewed and sold openly on Internet forums like Facebook, Etsy, and Instagram. These communities openly support creativity and innovations, while simultaneously inspiring new waves of artists. Inspiration becomes the fuel for a future culture of small business, thus empowering the masses with a drive to dissolve the hierarchies of the financial class system. More importantly, this inspiration creates freedom, as new waves of artists find ways to support themselves. This freedom creates happiness, which replaces our societal need to work to survive with a new vision of working to sustain happiness. This new perception of lifestyle is slowly replacing the world view of a fear based need to financially sustain the lower class and impoverished lifestyle, which is a self perpetuating world view forced upon the lower classes of American society. While small businesses begin to replace the corporate norm of past humanity, we must remember to support these businesses and empower the lower classes with middle class and upper class profits, thus dissolving the hierarchy and empowering the lower class system. The entire system will not change overnight, however the importance of personal happiness over financial abundance allows the system to become unnecessary and non-effective to those who find true abundance, by walking in their true path and supporting their families with pursuits that allow them to live in contentment and peace.
