Excited to be helping with chapels at ALCs 2014 summer camps starting tomorrow. Weve got some great stuff planned with Robbie F and Scott M leading worship, and Jason R speaking in the evenings, Then in the mornings Ill be teaching. Im going to attempt a two-screen experience where the students are presented with various (and often times, conflicting) messages from the world (on the left) and then from the scriptures (on the right). They will be forced to dig deep into these messages, to understand the rationale behind them, and truly appreciate the distinction between them. This may be a counter-cultural experience since, here in N. America, so much of our culture is reflects a feel-good, syncretistic, pseudo-Christianity that has been castrated by popular opinion. My hope is that the students will gain a clear picture of the ideology of each side, and appreciate the profound wisdom of the scriptures. My prayer is that they will wrestle with the voices calling to them, and make a conscious and informed decision to turn their backs on the unrelenting, ego-centric, hedonistic messages that barrage them on a daily basis. (Sorry for the dualism, I know nobody likes that stuff these days.)
