Excited to kick it tonite with my homey, unofficial lil bro, and super talented individual, My Boy Elroy, as he joins one of his multiple musical projects -- Digital Tape Machine -- for a farewell to Chicago performance, as he will be leaving us in just a few short days to move away and go preach the gospel of Chicago sounds to people of Hawaii! What started a chance meeting outside of SmartBar one Sunday night many years back, turned into a super cool friendship, and occasionally even a little musical collaboration. Few are the people that I know that have the amazingly fun personality, charisma, talent, and drive to succeed musically, and this kid falls right into this coveted category on all counts. Im constantly impressed at how seemingly effortlessly this guy manages to consistently lay down sick DJ sets, pump out thoughtfully provocative music productions, throw down ridiculous beatboxing performances on the mic (something truly cool to witness, if you havent had the privilege), freestyle rhymes, do turntable gymnastics and turntablist trickery, and perform regularly with bands/projects such as Liquid Soul (official), Digital Tape Machine, Dextrous Roy, The Midnight Circus, and probably even a bunch more that I dont even know about. Elroy, Im gonna miss ya, and this citys gonna miss ya... Youve been having a pretty solid series of send-off events, but Im most excited to be witness to this one tonite. I know this wont be goodbye, but much more-so a see you later, as theres no getting rid of you. HAHA -- But in all seriousness, I couldnt be more proud of you, buddy. Youve accomplished so many things here in CHI and beyond, and youve got a great road ahead of you, and a tremendous partner in crime to share it with (i.e.: Jessica Araszewski). Nothing but love, my bruddah. See you tonite! :D And for those of you who dont know what Im talking about, peep this video. Awesome stuff.
