Excitement builds among stars and fans for WrestleMania 30 The excitement for WrestleMania 30 is palpable now that the talent has arrived in town.Sitting down for a chat with some of the WWE’s biggest and brightest superstars and divas as they shared their thoughts on WresteManias past and present, The Douce learned they’re just as eager as the fans for Sunday’s spectacle. “I’m looking forward to going out there in front of 70,000 people and doing what I love to do,” Daniel Bryan told me at the convention centre Friday. “It’s exciting.” The annual event has been responsible for some of the most memorable moments in wrestling history and many fans are counting on the man behind the wildly popular Yes! Movement to do big things in the Big Easy. Bryan said he feels that extra pressure on him to perform, but he believes he can meet or exceed those “lofty expectations.” “Every year Undertaker goes out there and has the best match of the show, I want this to be the year that he doesn’t,” he said, grinning so wide even his mangy beard couldn’t contain it. All over N’awlins, from the streets of the French Quarter to the interior of the convention centre where Fan Axxess is being held through the weekend, fans can be heard chanting: “Yes! Yes! Yes!” “I don’t see myself as being a star, or someone people would want to imitate but yet here I am finding myself in this very unlikely position where people are imitating me all the time,” Bryan said. “And it’s just surreal.” Bryan has risen to the top of wrestling’s biggest stage by not being a phoney. “Any time I’ve ever tried to be something that’s not me it doesn’t work,” Bryan said. “So I just try to be myself.” It’s a quality fans find endearing and it’s why so many hope Bryan will walk out of the Superdome with the WWE Heavyweight Championship belt strapped around his waist. But the native of Aberdeen, Wash., has a tough road ahead. He must first beat Triple H, a 13-time world champ and current WWE COO. If he’s successful, he’ll jump into the fray with Batista and current WWE heavyweight champ Randy Orton to battle for the title in the main event at WrestleMania 30. “I would love to be part of something special like what Brett Hart and Shawn Michaels Iron Man match was to me when I was young,” Bryan said, adding 18 years later fans and wrestlers alike still talk about that epic bout. Bryan is just one of many WWE stars hoping to deliver a special performance. “This is a huge WrestleMania for me,” Natalya told The Douce, explaining she aims to snatch the WWE Divas Championship belt from AJ Lee when they and a dozen other ladies step into the ring for a battle royal Sunday. As a member of Canada’s most illustrious wrestling clan, the Hart family, the daughter of Jim ‘the Anvil’ Neidhart would love to deliver like her uncles Bret ‘the Hitman’ Hart and Owen Hart did at WrestleMania 10. Natalya is convinced her grandfather, Stu Hart, and her uncles Owen and Davey Boy Smith, will be “looking down” on her in the Superdome. But in a match where the first to score a pinfall or make someone tap out wins, it may not even matter how well she performs. “We’ll see what happens, but I feel like once I lock the sharpshooter on someone it’s game over,” Natalya said. Hulk Hogan, who stopped by the convention centre to speak to media, may also have enough fire left in his belly to deliver a memorable moment Sunday night. While the living legend made it clear fans shouldn’t hold their breath waiting for him to pull on his red boots and climb into the ring, he did hint his involvement in WrestleMania 30 could extend beyond hosting. “There’s so many young guys trying to make a name for themselves and sometimes they decide to grab that ring, to do something extra special,” the Hulkster said. “With Hulk Hogan there as the host, one of these young guys could take a cheap shot and try to make his career happen much faster. “So if they decide to come my way, I’ve got a couple receipts for them,” he said grinning through his bleached blonde moustache while holding up two monstrous fists. Sheamus, Titus O’Neil and Intercontinental Champ, Big E, also told The Douce they plan to ensure fans get their money’s worth when they and 27 other wrestlers climb into the ring for the WWE’s inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. “I always dreamed of being part of WrestleMania and for the last five years I have been,” Sheamus said. “I’m very excited to be part of it again, very honoured.” Big E agreed wholeheartedly. “It’s always exciting to be part of the first of something,” he said. “And obviously it’s Andre, who is a legend, so anything that’s in his name is pretty cool.” Titus O’Neil said he has a “simple” game plan he believes will lead to his arm being raised when the dust settles. “I’m going to throw out 29 other superstars and hoist up the Andre the Giant Memorial trophy at the end of the night,” he said.oh heck ya show him yall read this one drivers everybody else here 10-4
