Excitement builds for Community Registration Day on September 14 With a full slate of over 70 community organizations scheduled to participate, excitement is building for Community Registration Day, which takes place Saturday, September 14, at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre. Community Registration Day, formerly known as `Get Up and Go Wood Buffalo`, is a trade show format showcase of community-based organizations. The event provides an opportunity for residents to become engaged through program registration and volunteer opportunities, among other avenues. From Noon until 4:00 pm on September 14 community members are invited to Nexen Field House at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre to explore the many options for sport, recreational, cultural, and community initiatives in the Wood Buffalo region, and enjoy the complimentary Volunteer Appreciation Barbeque presented by Volunteer Wood Buffalo. “Community Registration Day is a tremendous opportunity for local organizations to connect with the public,” said Jodie Mercier, General Manager of Sport and Recreation at MacDonald Island Park. “This trade show format enables community members to engage in a one-stop shop approach to the myriad of groups and organizations in the Wood Buffalo region, and allows exploration of all the options available to the community.” Community Registration Day is organized and delivered by an advisory committee comprising representation from the following organizations: Events Wood Buffalo MacDonald Island Park Nonprofit Sector LINK Wood Buffalo Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre Volunteer Wood Buffalo
