Exciting times for Camelford Stingers - Camelford Stingers Mini triathlon Camelford Stingers Swimming Club, in conjunction with Camelford Leisure Centre Limited and the Friends of Camelford Leisure Centre, are organising a Mini Triathlon for children ages 5-13 years old. The event will be on Sunday 29th September 2013. The triathlon will comprise of a swim in the pool, followed by a cycle ride and then a run, both safely within the grounds of Sir James Smith Community School; the distances for each discipline will depend on the age group. 5-8yrs will swim 1 length of the pool, cycle 200m around the tennis courts and run 250 on grass (parents of this age group are welcome to help the children in the pool, arm bands and swimming aids can be worn). If they can’t cycle they are welcome to use a scooter or Hobby Horse. 9-10yrs will... swim 5 lengths Cycle 1km and run 550m on grass, With the oldest age group 11-13 swimming 15 lengths, cycling 2km and Running 1.1km both older age groups will cycle part tarmac and part grass. The aim of the triathlon is to encourage fitness amongst children and to introduce them to the sport; it is intended that it will become an annual event. Each child will receive on completion a medal and the first three in each age group will receive a prize. Monies raised at the event will help fund The Leisure Centre and The Camelford Stinger ASC.
