Exclusive: Bennett agreed to apologize after Netanyahu offered him free Super Bowl tickets, but the Bayit Yehudi leader rejected the prime ministers offer to pay for the plane tickets only in one direction. The negotiations between the two leaders over the tickets for the US football championship game were conducted over the course of several weeks, long before the latest public altercation between the two men. However, the talks became more complex after the Seattle Seahwaks defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game. Thats because Bennetts parents reportedly (according to Wikipedia) made aliyah from San Francisco, and the 49ers loss made the tickets to the Super Bowl less appealing to the economics minister. However, the fact that the Denver Broncos won the AFC championship game over the New England Patriots made the tickets less appealing to Netanyahu, who studied at MIT and Harvard. US Secretary of State John Kerry, himself from Massachusetts, applauded the prime ministers lack of interest in the Super Bowl. The two men called it a good beginning towards reaching future understandings, and perhaps even a position paper on whether the extra-point should be abolished. But the best indication yet of the goodwill that has now emerged between the US secretary and Israeli premier, due to Netanyahus support of the Patriots and his efforts to expel Bennett from the Jewish State, is a landmark agreement that apparently is in the works. According to an Israeli government source close to Netanyahu, who refused to be indentified because of the sensitivity of the issue and the fact that he is not authorized to speak about the subject, Israel would agree to negotiations for a Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines, if Washington agrees to take the historic move towards recognition of the role of the Native American, and changes the name of its football team, the Redskins. Minister Bennett could not be reached for comment.
