Exclusive News........ DIMAPUR Acciddental IED blast injures bomber ; 2 IEDs recovered........... One person sustained serious injury when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded while he was reportedly trying to plant the same at Eros Lane, near Blue Hill station, Dimapur Monday night. Two more IEDs were also recovered from the vehicle near the site. The blast took place at around 8.40 to 9 p.m., said SDPO Dimapur, Mhonyamo Tsopoe. The injured person was identified as Longjam Ojit Meitei (30) son of L. Joykumar Meitei, from Sapinghot, Makha Leikai, PO Lamlong, Lamlai PS as given in his driving license. He sustained grievous injuries on his right hand and face and has been admitted to Dimapur District Hospital. The impact of the blast was huge that concrete roof of a waiting shed was completely damaged. According to eyewitnesses, two persons arrived in a white coloured Maruti 800 (MN-1A-4462). Ojit stepped out of the car and the IED exploded immediately after that. His accomplice fled from the spot after the car broke down just a few meters away from the site, said police. Later, a team of bomb disposal squad, Dimapur arrived and recovered two more IEDs inside the car. The IEDs were concealed inside the container filled with rice. Meanwhile, SP Dimapur, Meren Jamir told media persons that the incident was aimed at creating fear psychosis among the general public in view of the forthcoming Republic Day celebration. He however said that police would keep strict vigil to thwart any incidents by anti social elements. Police suspect that the incident was the handiwork of militants from outside the state to disturb Republic Day celebration in Dimapur. The two IEDs recovered from the car had white papers stuck on them mentioning the dates and time when the bombs were to be exploded. One was to be exploded on January 25 at 10 a.m. and the other one on January 26 at 7 a.m. It may be pointed out that Dimapur has become a safe haven for various militant outfits from other neighbouring states.
