Excuse me , being a stupid swede,but wanna know why all this happy thanksgiving??? We swedes had that day earlier in October, and so did the Canadians, and from my knowledge it is now celebrated in USA (is it elsewhere too, let me know) , since from my knowledge it is celebrated as the newcomers, pilgrimms arrived from Europe to USA , and since their harvest was bad some years they finally had a nice one(acually got help from the native Indians) , and to that they praised the lord and gave thnaks because of that ! (been over 30 years since I read history , let me know if I am wrong!)
