Excuse the use of the F word being used over and over...but this is so true. It reminds me of one of my typography classes, where my instructor (who is literally covered neck to wrist to ankle in tattoos) told me that he and I could be the same age, have same credentials, and I could just have a moderate amount of ink and piercings and that if we applied for the same job...He would get it before me because of gender role. Even if I was higher qualified...just because it would be considered a symbol of strength and masculinity on him, but it would be a symbol of trashiness, poor critical thinking skills, and an example of financial mismanagement on my end.
