Exercise May Help Reduce Bone Loss, Risk Of Fractures In Breast Cancer Survivors. HealthDay (Preidt) reported that research presented at the annual meeting of the American Institute for Cancer Research suggests that “aerobics and strength-training exercises may help reduce bone loss and the risk of fractures in breast cancer survivors.” Individuals who participated “in an aerobic/resistance exercise program three times a week at a fitness center” were found to have “more physical endurance, greater muscle mass and lower fat mass than those in the control group.” Walking One Hour Each Day May Reduce Breast Cancer Risk In Older Women. Reuters (Seaman) reports that research published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention suggests that older women may reduce their risk of developing breast cancer by walking for at least an hour every day. BBC News reports that the researchers found that women “who walked for at least seven hours per week had a 14% lower risk of breast cancer compared to” women who walked three hours or less each week.
