Exercise Physiologist Abby Byrne dropped into the RAD centre today to smash out a session. We started off with some glute activation drills, getting them firing before the main strength session started. A lot of athletes dont know how to recruit their glutes correctly, thus decreasing their potential performance. Often athletes are able to complete certain movements without using their glutes, this may work initially, with other muscles taking on the work load, unless the body can fire the glutes correctly performance wont increase. Abby then moved into the shed and completed some deadlifts, big chest, hips through the bar, and keeping the bar close to the body throughout the movement. She then even smashed out some pull ups, girl can lift! Finished off with some conditioning on the prowler sled and battle ropes. Females that complete strength training will greatly improve their athletic performance!! Girls need to lift!
