Exercise requires discipline. And so does healthy eating. We have favorite workouts and not-so-favorite ones. We do both because we understand that working on our weaknesses is just smart fitness, and it makes us BETTER! The same is true with nutrition. Every once in a while you need to sit down and eat the salad, broccoli or lima beans - that dont thrill your taste buds. Not everything you eat needs to be a party in your mouth btw. Sometimes you have to find that discipline to eat your veggies, just like mom said. I call this eating discipline food reps because some of the things on your plate might not be all that yummy, but its very important to eat them anyway. I know, its not fair that much of the super healthy things we need dont taste all that great. But life is like that in all aspects of our existence. Im not a big fan of salads but I try to eat one or two every day because I understand that the vitamins, nutrients and fiber live there. If I want to train hard and live long then Ill need to add as many food reps as I can. This does NOT mean that an entire meal needs to feel like a 90 minute gymnastics class. Mix your food reps with your favorites and youll benefit inside, as much as you do with your workouts on the outside.
