Exercising power in love implies vulnerability. Yes, leaders need to be strong in order to stand up to the pressures and conflicts that leadership inevitably brings, but leaders also need to be vulnerable. This is not weakness, but another kind of strength because it reveals integrity and attracts trust... To create a new humanity, Jesus became the servant of all and was obedient to death. To shape the Church that was to come he exemplified servant hood characterized by HUMILITY, LOVE, and SACRIFICE. This is what he meant at the Last Supper when he said, I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. His example of servant leadership was to influence and empower servant leaders for the future. - Lt. Colonel Jonathan Roberts, Rooted Leadership, THE OFFICER Sept.-Oct. 2013
