Exile Empire. On sale now at your preferred vendors. A glimpse: Writhing in pain, the creature slammed the claw into the wall, attempting to dislodge the mangled mass of metal and crystal, sending shards of the data cube and the wall in every direction. James followed the creature’s path at full speed, the shards tearing into his skin as he seized the creature’s now useless claw and leaped onto its back, following his father’s example. The Harvester continued to thrash and buck, but James held onto the knife his father had left in its back. Slamming backward into the wall, it attempted to crush James between itself and the unforgiving surface. With blood streaming from his face and numerous wounds, James screamed as the creature pivoted away from the wall, recovered enough to use its deadly tail. As the serrated barb rushed toward his head, James slung himself into the air and off the creature’s back. The tail slammed into the back of the creature’s own neck, upon which James immediately landed. The barb had shorn the handle from his father’s knife still lodged in the beast’s neck. Using all of his strength, James wrenched out the other blade from the creature’s armor and slashed the joint connecting the barb to the creature’s tail. The power of the blow combined with the wrenching force of the creature attempting to free the tail from its own flesh shattered the joint, separating the barb from the tail, and left the stump spraying its dark blood in a shower on the ceiling. The beast’s thrashes intensified. Its screeches evolved into one high-pitched ceaseless scream. Something popped and James’s ears began to bleed. Clinging to the back of the creature with an insane tenacity, James plunged the remaining knife into the freely flowing hole in the creature’s neck. His hand sank to the wrist. Without thinking, he clamped his hand on it and pulled with all of his might. There was a wrenching, popping sound, and James’s hand emerged from the pulped mass of red and black with a single vertebrae. The creature jerked once more and collapsed, falling silent and still in a single second. James stood on the fallen beast. He took the base of the tail barb and pulled it from the beast’s neck. James stood there for a long second and stared at the vile implement. All of his sorrow and rage seemed to flow into it as he watched the blood of his parents and sister drip onto the floor, where it mingled with the monster’s juices. amazon/The-Exile-Empire-Joshua-Done/dp/193736528X/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1401235520&sr=8-1
