Existing passing criteria for CA CPT, IPC and Final Examinations - TopicsExpress

Existing passing criteria for CA CPT, IPC and Final Examinations The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the apex institute for accountancy profession in India, has made a very important announcement dated Tuesday, 23 July 2013 regarding passing criteria at all level of CA (Chartered Accountancy) examinations. At present there are three stages for becoming Chartered Accountant viz. (a) Common Proficiency Course (CPC), (b) Intermediate (Integrated Professional Competence) Course and Final Course. ICAI vide its Notification No.13-CA (EXAM)/CPT/December/2013 and No. 13-CA (EXAM)/N/2013 dated 5th July, 2013 notified the examination schedule, timing and list of exam centres etc. for CA CPT, IPC and Final examination to be held in December and November respectively. However, the passing requirement for such examination has been presented in a misleading manner in social (Google Plus, Facebook and Twitter etc.) and other media to create anxiety or bewilderment amongst the students of the CA Institute. Following clause has been interpolated in a distorted “Passing Criteria Passing criteria at all level of the CA examination i.e. CPT, IPC and Final has been changed to 55% marks in aggregate and 45% for individual subjects w.e.f. May, 2015 Examinations.” CA Institute clarified that there is no change in the passing requirements nor is the Institute contemplating to effect any changes in the passing requirements. ICAI has also made an eagerly appeal to the students, other stakeholders and the public at large not to pay any heed to such unscrupulous emails/messages being circulated in public domain. Therefore, the existing passing requirements for CA CPT, IPC and Final examinations shall remain the same. In other words, the following passing criteria should remain unchanged: CA CPT Exam: The candidate have to secure at one sitting a minimum of 30% marks in each section and minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of all sections comprised in CPT examination CA Intermediate (IPC) and Final Exam: The candidate securing at one sitting a minimum of 40% marks in each paper and minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of the papers comprised in a group in respect of Intermediate (IPC) and Final examinations shall be declared to be passed.
