Exodus 16:26 This chapter in Exodus which is labeled "The wilderness of Sin" dealt with the Lord God sending manna unto the children of Isreal after they departed from the land of Egypt. While in the wilderness the children of Isreal/congregation grumbled againt Aaron and Moses. So the Lord told Moses vs.4 Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you: and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove (test) them, whether they will waslk in my law, or no. Now even though the Lord provided for the children of Isreal there were guildines that they had to follow, instructions the Lord had given Moses for them. Each man was to gather according to his eating. The Lord was showing them that He heard there grumblings and that He would supply their needs. But on t the sixth day each man gathered twive as much bread for the sabbath was a day of rest. Vs.23 And he said unto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake today, and seethe (boil) that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until morning. Now there were some who tried to lay up some for the next day and had awaken to the manna being stank and filled with worms. Even though the Lord was supplying there needs they stil yet were disobedient. Those who did not lay up did not have to deal with the stank and worms in there tents. Vs.26 Six days ye shall gahter it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it, there shall be none. See during this time the children of Isreal did not understand that the Lord was trying to teach them to look Godward for their daily bread (provisions) and it also pointed toward the One who claimed to be the true bread of heaven, even "the bread of life" (John 6:32, 35). To me this is a shadow of Christ as well. This lesson is still true today, meaning we need to look toward our Lord and God for our daily bread and provisions and not our jobs, money or whatever else we have a tendency to depend on. Our daily bread/provisions from the Lord is the only thing that will not fail. The money systems of this world will one day fail and no longer be. Depend on the Lord today for everything you need and I garentee He will not fail you, this world on the other hand will.
