Exodus 22:25 (NASB) “If you lend money to My people, to the poor among you, you are not to act as a creditor to him; you shall not charge him interest.” It was late one night when we received the call, someone needed a place to stay for the night with their family…we didn’t have room at home so we put them up in a hotel room…as we paid the bill for the night, the person repeated said that they would pay us back with interest…we answered that each time by saying the same thing…we didn’t want the interest, in fact we didn’t want them to pay us back at all…we were blessed at the time to be able to help with the finances that God had blessed us with…if you asked a financial advisor today, if lending money out without charging interest was a prudent thing to do, they would say NO, but if you asked God if you should, His answer may just surprise us…YES for it is not about the money but it’s about the heart…and that goes for giving of our gifts and talents…if we are doing so to reap the rewards, to get back more than we gave, then we have this whole thing of giving all mixed up…as we end the week of “are we in it for the money” we may answer yes but then the next question is “what are we doing with our money” – I am sure we have all heard that old familiar line… “you can’t take it with you!” so I wonder, are we holding on to our money with too tight a grip…is there someone you could bless today by giving some away or even using your gifts and talents…be blessed and have a wonderful weekend and bless someone, maybe even your church! Peace, tom
