Exodus: Gods And Kings - This is a properly epic film, with spectacular set pieces, beautiful visuals and and a much more interesting take on the Biblical story. Its actually quite a decent companion piece to Noah, but this film is a far more standard and less subversive affair. Where the film falters is with its running time - its too short. It crams so much into 2 and a half hours that theres no time to breath or for real character exploration. It does however feel like there are bits missing, Signourney Weaver appears for a couple of minutes here and there, but it does feel like there should be much more, not just to her performance, but for the film in general. Ridley Scott had Directors Cut on Kingdom Of Heaven so long as it was under 2 and a half hours, and I would suspect that it is the same with Exodus, so I would also imagine that there will be an extended edition on blu-ray, that just like KOH will be a better version of the film. Its a shame because with the extra running time, this film would have received a warmer reception. I saw it in 2D and I thought that it might be better in 3D, so I will be returning to see it in that format. As always Scott creates a very compelling world that is enjoyable and fascinating to experience and is a new and interesting take on it that isnt the usual fare. I really enjoyed it and would imagine it would make a great Sunday afternoon film. https://youtube/watch?v=t-8YsulfxVI
