Expatriates Almost 60pc Of Kuwait’s Population: Report As per statistics issued by Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), the population of Kuwait as of June 2013 was 3,892,000 and 3,824,000 at the end of 2012, reports Al -Seyassah daily. Report added that census conducted during the first half of the year indicated 1.8 percent increase in population at the end of 2012, and expected the figure to increase by 3.6 percent this year. According to the latest statistics, the number of Kuwaitis increased in the first half of the current year by 14,600 and noted the figure dropped to 31.5 percent from the previous 31.7 percent recorded in December 2012. Meanwhile, the total number of expatriates in the country is currently 2,665,000 of which 2,329,000 are working. The expatriates represent 59.8 percent of the entire Kuwait population, the report added. Also, the percentage of workers in public sector is 435,500, of which 70.7 percent are Kuwaitis, reiterating the number of unemployed Kuwaitis declined to 11,900. Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Government Manpower and Restructuring Program Fawzi Al -Majdali affirmed over 83,446 citizens are currently working in private sector according to the latest statistics issued by the Public Authority of Civil Information, reports Al -Watan Arabic daily. Sources were quoted as saying the number keeps growing and that the program endeavors to recruit 14,000 citizens per annum, adding that public sector recruited 8,000 nationals in the past two years.
