Expats using their cars to ‘ferry’ people for money to be deported KUWAIT CITY, June 8: Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs in the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali announced Saturday that expatriate who violate traffic law will be deported in line with administrative decision, citing those who have been using their personal cars to transport people for money, reports Al-Rai daily. Major General Al-Ali added that anyone who feels he has been misjudged or aggrieved has the right to refer his or her grievances to the traffic investigation committee. Meanwhile, there has been serious coordination between the traffic and custom departments to inquire about all vehicles leaving and entering the country to determine their owners, and if the vehicles are wanted by any government body. ‘’This is part of the ministry’s efforts to stop smuggling of wanted or stolen vehicles’’, Major General Al-Ali indicated. He also said traffic violations are written off five years from the day they are registered or five years from the day the violator is informed about it or when the person who committed the violation dies. He revealed that the General Traffic Department in just one month has collected KD 4,281,000 in fines from a total of 8 million recorded violations against individuals, and companies, and government authorities. Major General Al-Ali noted that foreigners owe the ministry KD 6 million in fines and citizens KD 2 million. He also said the traffic campaigns will continue 24/7, and urged the public to settle violations before the ministry imposes travel ban on those who have been fined KD 80 and above. In response to the allegation of illegal issuance of citations via traffic monitoring cameras, Major General Al-Ali stressed that Articles 33 and 42 of the traffic code allow the registration of such violations using traffic monitoring cameras. -Arab Times
