Expect lots of activity between 7am and 3pm tomorrow, Wednesday 12 March, at Owlerton Stadium in Sheffield as various public and voluntary agencies test their emergency plans during Exercise Volunteer. Blue light services, health and council officials will be joined by representatives from Royal Voluntary Service, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance, Private Medical Services, Mountain Rescue Teams and Cruse Bereavement Care to test a multi-agency response to a mock crash. Students from The Sheffield College will also be made up to look like real-life casualties using the skills of a professional make-up artist. The exercise is being funded by a £5,000 grant from Community Resilience UK following a successful funding bid from the South Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum.
