Experimental piece, colored thumbnails of my short story, The Sword of Icarus from earlier this year, included in my FLUID Sketchbook. The initial idea struck me randomly at 2am on an April morning and I just started drawing tiny thumbnails in a rush to capture what I was feeling. Usually when I approach a story, I take my time with it and plan it out from start to finish before my pencil dances with the paper hehe… but this time around, I just drew out the tiny panels in a stream of thought process. What this piece means… the colors are symbolic of the Mistress newly gained power by the sword, but soon fades again when she loses it. What I aimed to express here is sometimes our eyes are bigger than our bellies. The Mistress acquired what she desired but in the end, she could not harness or control it, thus it expelling from her body ultimately leading to her descension. Conclusion… I wanted it to be open for the reader to depict it however they saw fit. It appears as if she falling to her impending doom but what makes it interesting is that she doesnt seem panicked. Its almost as though she accepts and eventually embraces it. What happens next is left up in the air (no pun intended haha). Sometimes its not about the destination but the journey haha…
