Exploding kittens blow up on #Kickstarter! Many of you may have heard of Matthew Inman or the #Oatmeal, the popular cartoonist and Tesla fanatic. Well he teamed up with former lead game designer at Microsoft Game Studios and developer of alternate reality games Elan Lee, and Shane Small to bring us Exploding kittens, a new card game, not violently erupting balls of fur as the name suggests. The game was originally called Bomb squad and created by Lee and Small with a standard deck of cards before Inman got involved and drew the exploding kitties to go with it. “I suggested that we change the name to ‘Exploding Kittens,’ and add cards like unicorn pigs and Sasquatches and weaponized back-hair and a bunch of other weird ‘Oatmeal’-inspired attack cards. From there, our little game was born.” The three started the Kickstarter campaign yesterday afternoon looking for only $10,000 of funding. This goal was reached within a staggering 20 minutes by 8pm yesterday evening the Kickstarter had reached the million dollar mark. It now stands at $1,558,019 worth of funding with 29 days to go! So if youd like to fund the Kickstarter rather than wait for the commercial release you still have plenty of time. Watch the video below for a description of how the game works.
