Exposure during military service to certain airborne hazards could potentially cause health problems in Veterans, depending on a number of other factors. VA is conducting research on the issue and has created the Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry for Veterans and Service members who served in: • OEF/OIF/OND or in Djibouti, Africa, after September 11, 2001, or • Operations Desert Shield or Desert Storm or the Southwest Asia theater of operations after August 2, 1990 The Registry is available at https://veteran.mobilehealth.va.gov/AHBurnPitRegistry/#page/hometodocument exposures and health concerns.
