Extra Life Update: It is that time of year. Though last year I did this last minute. But most of my postings from this point forward will be mostly Extra Life posts. Last year I managed to get help from some of you in order to raise $200 for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to add to a combined effort of over $77,600. Just for the kids. This year, I want to push it, I am hoping to make more for the Extra Life charity. In which all proceeds got to Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals. So this year I am hoping to make $500 for CHOP. But any and all donations will be accepted. If I meet my goals from last year I will be happy, and if I can meet or exceed my goal for this year, I would be ecstatic. Below is a small Q&A I found which gives you some examples where the money goes and what not. Q. Where is the money raised for Extra Life going? A: Funds raised benefit vital patient care programs at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia such as Child Life, Art Therapy, Music Therapy and Pet Therapy. Q: What can be purchased at CHOP using the money you raised? A #1: One guitar or keyboard for the Music Therapy Program = $100. A #2: One fetal heart monitor, which monitors the condition of a baby’s heart as he or she grows inside Mom = $500. A #3: One pulsoximeter, which measures the amount of oxygen and pulse rate = $1,000. The average gamer raises $200. If our currently registered 256 gamers raise $200 each, we will already be halfway to our goal of $100,000! Did you know - In 2013 the Extra Life Program raised $77,623 … Can we raise $100,000 this year? How can I join or change which team I am on? Is there still time? Yes there is! If you want to join or change which team you are on after you have registered, just log into your Extra Life account and select Change Team Membership on the right-hand side of our player toolbar. You will then have the choice to switch to an exisiting team or create a new one of your own! (Like Team Noodle) Lets all pitch in to try to make it a better year. This is for the kids.
