Extreme Long Range: How long will winter last? There is a model - TopicsExpress

Extreme Long Range: How long will winter last? There is a model called the Brazilian which is only really good for very long range ideas but here it goes. This model shows that Chicago does not really get above freezing until around April 1st. Since cold air over Chicago always bleeds east towards our area I am left to believe that winter will be in full force and effect through just about all of March. That was the bad news but here is the good news. Around April 15 this model shows Chicago becoming very wet for an extended period of time (about 2 months). Usually, for Chicago to be that wet, storms would be tracking through the central part of the county and that should translate to our area being on the warm side of the storms and not close enough to the the storms to receive much precipitation. Translation, it may take a while to get here but we may go much above normal temperature wise by mid April. Again, this is just an idea.
