Extremely proud of my baby sister Wendy Thomas Schulze who has been selected to present Navigating Change in Literacy Instruction International Phono-Graphix Conference which will be held: Altamonte Springs, Florida ~ June 27th through June 29th Taking the Next Step with Phono-Graphix® Presented by Wendy Schulze This presentation will provide a look at some tips and tricks “from the trenches.” Wendy will be sharing how she incorporated dictation and morpheme awareness into her practice to build a seamless extension of Sound, Symbol, Meaning to writing and grammar too. Participants will learn how to continue to build the “sound” of our language to further extend lessons for stronger reading and writing. After a 15-minute break Wendy will facilitate a roundtable discussion for participants to share their best tips and tricks. Be prepared to share some of the ways that you have extended Phono-Graphix to further reading, spelling, vocabulary and writing proficiency. About the Presenter: Wendy Schulze is a Phono-Graphix trainer and has been a reading therapist since 2004. She home-educated her seven children and directed the reading intervention program at a charter school in Eureka, California. Wendy holds a BA in English with a minor in communication, and has recently returned to her Alma Mater for a credential in special education (mild to severe). She is also is in the process of completing certification to be a handwriting specialist with Handwriting Without Tears. Wendy is driven to find effective and enjoyable ways to maximize learning—especially for children with learning challenges.
