Eye-Opening Photo Series: Conservative People Transformed into Stereotypical Roles How often do you look at a person and assign a role, adopt a set of beliefs, and label them with a stereotype due to societies pre-concepts? We all hope we do not judge a person, but we know we often fair. Photographer Joel Pares, in Judging America, rips away the curtain and shows us just how unfair our stereotypes often are. Joel took a series of very common, often powerful or conservative people, and photographed them both in their everyday roles, and how society labels them. The difference in personas is unsettling, especially as we realize how frequently both ourselves and others adopt the stereotypes for people we see on TV, in the news, or on our streets. The images flow from truth to stereotype, giving us a solid slap in the face. We watch as nurse Sahar Shaleem transforms from conservative nurse to terrorist, or as Pastor Jack Johnson becomes a flag-waving bigot.
