E’Guinea, Sao-Tome & Principe join coalition to fight B’Haram Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome and Pincipe have pledged their support to help Nigeria in waging war against the Boko Haram insurgency which had caused the deaths of thousands of people and destruction of property worth billions of naira across the country. Ambassadors of the two countries to Nigeria, Messrs Job Mbengono and Antonio Correia, stated this when they had separate audience with the Senate President, David Mark, on Saturday evening in Abuja. The envoys declared that their countries were worried about the developments in Nigeria and were prepared to enlist in the battle against terrorism. On his part, the Equitorial Guineea envoy said his country sympathized with Nigeria on the unabating terrorism which had been claiming lives and property. He therefore assured Mark that his people were ready to collaborate with Nigeria to defeat the terrorists. He said, “Nigeria is a very strategic and important country in Africa. We share a lot of things in common in the gulf of Guinea. The continent cannot afford the continuous crisis and violence in Nigeria. Something must be done urgently to salvage the situation.” The Ambassador said his country has a lot to learn from Nigeria stressing that Guinea’s National legislature which was unicameral has been made a bicameral legislature like Nigeria’s, courtesy of the 2011 referendum which endorsed the new arrangement. Also addressing the senate president, the Sao Tome’s envoy to Nigeria, said he brought the solidarity of his country to support Nigeria in the battle against terrorism just as he pleaded with the abductors of Chibok school girls to release them.
