**F2 V4.1 Physics Update** Recently I have been speaking to a few people about the new F2 physics update. It seems the odd one or two people are struggling to work out what changes to make to their existing setups. Personally I have come across a few tricks in setting up these cars with the new update, so here they are…. This year’s update will see drivers changing new things such as ‘Diff-Preload’ and ‘brake compounds’ so there is a general starting point. A softer brake compound will heat up faster allowing the brakes to be at full working temperature sooner, where as a harder compound would see the brakes taking a while to warm up and therefore be less effective at the start of a race. Compounds are all personal preference so it is strongly encouraged to try a few different combinations to work out how changing a compound can change the way your setup feels throughout the race. Diff-Preload is something that can be changed in the general setup and is located underneath the section where you can change your gear ratio. Changing the preload on the LSD (limited-slip differential) will allow a driver to tighten or loosen the car up in a very easy way. Running a tarmac car with the preload at 15, will make the car a lot more ‘pushy’ in the corners whereas running a car with a diff preload of 2 will make the car really loose and a bit more ‘twithcy’ over the back end. These setup areas are all areas which in the past haven’t really made much adjustment to the cars, however this year will see drivers needing to look into these areas and explore the aspects of each individual setting to really get the most out of their setup. Setup wise I am personally using my 2013 setup with changes to the brake compounds, and of course a lot more diff-preload. Simply changing these elements really does bring the 2013 setups back into play and with very little adjustment you will see them back on top form.
