FAB FANS: Chief executive revealed last week that Villa’s crowds are up 10 per cent on the same time last season and they maintained that trend with another sizeable crowd against Tottenham. Despite the pouring rain, Spurs’ stranglehold over Villa and the game being on the box, there was an attendance of 35,391 at Villa Park. It means Villa’s average gate after four Premier League home games is 37,276 - putting them eighth in the attendance table. Although their team didn’t give them too much to shout about, the Villa Park faithful generated plenty of support again, especially when Christian Benteke’s return roused the masses.
