FABRICIO Coloccini says he will keep on letting his feet to the talking for Newcastle United – and won’t always shoot from the lip. Long-serving Coloccini reaffirmed his commitment to the club late last season. And the influential captain will return to Tyneside for the start of pre-season training early next month. United manager Alan Pardew defended Coloccini and Mike Williamson, his centre-half partner, late last season after Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville said they were playing “on mute”. Neville and his colleague Jamie Carragher highlighted what they felt was a lack of communication between them in Newcastle’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in late March. Kevin Nolan, Coloccini’s predecessor as skipper, was a vocal figure on and off the pitch. Coloccini – who feels the weight of responsibility of being captain – insists he will say what’s needed to be said at the “right time”. But the 32-year-old – who not selected by Argentina for the World Cup after an injury-hit campaign – won’t change his measured style. “It’s a big responsibility to be captain,” Coloccini said. “I love that – it’s a good thing. “It’s not too much about speaking or shouting. It’s about saying the right things in the right way to go forward.” Neville and Carragher were critical of United’s back four against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, and much of their analysis was focused on Coloccini and Williamson. “On TV they can say many things, but they are not on the pitch,” added Coloccini. “Maybe the ball is at the other side, and I’m not in camera shot. It’s OK. It’s football. “A lot of people can speak and a lot of people think they can be the manager.” Coloccini put an end to 18 months of speculation last month when he claimed he was no longer looking to return to Argentina. “I had personal problems,” said Coloccini. “Sometimes it’s tough. You have to decide between the problems and the work. “Sometimes it’s too difficult. Now it’s finished, and next season I will be here.
