Contact: Boyd Hartwig Phone: 406 329-1024 What: Butte Cabin Fire Update Location: 25 miles southeast of Missoula, Montana Summary: A new fire in the Rock Creek area was reported to Missoula Interagency dispatch by a tanker returning from the Moose Creek Fire this afternoon at 3:10 P.M. Firefighters and aircraft are currently responding. The fire is currently three-quarters of an acre and located about two miles east of the Butte Cabin Trailhead and about 15 miles south of Interstate-90. The fire location has good road access and one engine is en-route. No structures are currently threatened. Smokejumpers, two helicopters (one heavy and one light), and three SEATs are also en-route. Size: Three-quarters of an acre Containment: 0 percent Resources: One load of Smokejumpers (4-10), one engine, one Type I Helicopter, one Type III Helicopter, three Single Engine Tankers (SEATs) Terrain: Steep, timbered slopes, good road access
