FACT: THE CHIEFS ARE A BETTER FOOTBALL TEAM WHEN KNILE DAVIS IS THE RUNNING BACK! After reading this post, if you truly still think you know more about this subject than I do, Then I will not debate with anymore Chiefs fans this season. Its one thing to argue opinions, its ridiculous to argue facts. Time of possession is key to success in football unless you are one of the few teams that scores 35+ points per game. It better to have a back who gets me 4 yards every carry for 25 carries than one who gets 50 on one and 50 total on the other 24 carries. That inconsistency kills a teams time of possession, which is a battle you must win if your team doesnt score 35 points per game. Very few teams actually use the passing game to open up the running game. Those teams have Brady, Manning, and Brees. So that shouldnt be the goal of the Chiefs. Most teams use a consistent running game to open up the passing game. That could work for the chiefs if they would consistently run the ball 25 times per game between the tackles, and it would work! It did work when Knile Davis was actually getting the ball regularly. The 3 games he really played in he ran hard between the tackles, controlled the ball and the clock. He gained 318 yards on 70 carries, 4.5 per carry and 3 TDs. In those same 3 games Smith threw for 690 yards, 6 TDs, 0 INT with a QBR of 119.6. That was against 3 of the best defenses the Chiefs have played all year. Im not saying Davis is a better athlete than Charles, but he is a true RB, and makes the team better as a whole. That was proven earlier this season. Smith has not had a single game with a QBR over 106.8 outside of this 3 game stretch. Outside of that 3 game stretch Smith averages 197 passing yards and 1 TD per game, compared to 230 yards and 2 TDs per game during the stretch. Furthermore, Davis has more 100 yard games this season than Charles even though he has only been the feature back 2 out of 13 games. Im not saying trade Charles, just move him where he belongs. To slot receiver. Davis tough inside running will open up the passing lanes and Charles will have more big plays on short routes and jet sweeps than he ever dreamed of having as a running back! I would put my life on it!
