FAI Press Release FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF IRELAND Thursday, March 27, 2014 O’Brien names Ireland U15 squad for Scotland friendlies COLIN O’Brien has named his Republic of Ireland U15 squad for two friendly internationals against Scotland in Dunfermline next month. The youngest Irish international side will complete their programme of games at this level against the Scots having travelled to the Netherlands for two games in November and facing Turkey and the Dutch one more time in Antalya in January. Scotland host the Irish on Monday, April 7, and Wednesday, April 9. “We’ve named our squad for the final two games of the season. It’s another good opportunity to see several of the players again and to look at some new faces,” said O’Brien. “Things are going the right way for the players. The games in Turkey were another part of their development. At this age group we’ll always look at new players. It is very rare that you keep the same 18 as you want to give an opportunity at this level to as many players as you can. “The players have coped well in the previous games. All their capacities will be tested at this level. Our role as coaches is the assist them with that. The framework we have in place is a good environment. “The link with the ETP has helped see the players move in the right direction over the year. We’ve seen them learning the various aspects of being part of a team at this level of the game.” Manchester City youngster Tyreke Wilson and Carrick United’s Luke Kiely are the new additions to the Irish squad. Wilson has returned to fitness after a lengthy injury. “It’s lovely to see Tyreke back playing again. He’s missed a good part of the season and got himself back into a good position regards his rehabilitation,” said O’Brien. “He has played some contact matches with Manchester City recently which is great for him. On a personal level it’s great for him to get involvement in international football before the end of the season. “Luke has come in from the Waterford regional centre. He has been involved in the assessment procedure throughout the year and has shown good improvement and he’s getting his opportunity. “All of the lads who have played this season will be in the picture for the U16s next season so any of them not involved in this trip shouldn’t be down-hearted.” Republic of Ireland U15 squad: Paul Martin (Belvedere) Ian Giltenan (Carrigaline Utd) Aaron O’Driscoll (Cherry Orchard) Lee Rock (Ashbourne Utd) Alec Byrne (Carrigaline Utd) Evan Murphy (Salthill Devon) Tyreke Wilson (Manchester City) Daniel McKenna (Belvedere) Jamie Hamilton (Belvedere) Thomas Byrne (St Kevin’s Boys) Michael Murphy (Raheny United) Thomas OConnor (New Ross Celtic) Eoin Porter (New Ross Celtic) Rian OSullivan (Kingdom Boys) Jayson Molumby (Villa FC) Anthony Scully (West Ham Utd) Luke Kiely (Carrick United FC) Shane Stokes (St Kevin’s Boys) FIXTURES Monday, April 7 U15 International Friendly Scotland v Republic of Ireland, East End Park, Dunfermline (7.00pm) Wednesday, April 9 U15 International Friendly Scotland v Republic of Ireland, East End Park, Dunfermline (11.00am) Stephen Finn Communications Executive Football Association of Ireland [email protected] Mobile: +353 83 4167727 Twitter: @FAIreland
