FAILED HYPOCRISY THREW UP GENERAL BUHARI Gen. Muhammed Buhari was declared the winner of the APC Presidential primary election that was held in Lagos on Thursday, 11th December, 2014. The primary election, as seen by all both local and in diaspora was opened and transparent. This no doubt gave the entire process the desired credibility which has also re-in forced APC agenda as a leading party heading towards a profound change of the country. Thanks to the political alliance of the progressive forces across the country that also cut across all religions and various ethnic groups. The formation of the alliance was nourished and nurtured by the failure of the political hypocrisy and treachery wrapped up in ethno-religious sentiments, which was thrown up in the run up to 2011 general elections and which was used as a compensatory measure to boost up the political fortunes of some individuals. The end of the hypocrisy was not only the beginning of the alliance but it also furthered the movement of well intentioned politicians and people of Nigeria towards genuine democracy. The failure gave the political class the opportunity to unite and align appropriately. It also created a new consciousness and flaming desire for a corporate peaceful Nigerian Nation free from ethno-religious rancour and acrimony. The development is a big democratic success which is neither for Buhari nor APC alone. It is for Nigeria and Nigerians. I appeal to Buhari and his co-travellers in this noble course to increase the tempo of their nationalistic spirit through a sustained cooperation, collaboration, tolerance and understanding. Because only that way would they remain united for the tortuous journey ahead. I appeal to all well meaning Nigerians to re-in force APC’S confidence in General Buhari through their hard earned votes. May this be the beginning of a new Nigeria where everybody regardless of religion or ethnicity will have equal opportunity towards prosperity and happiness.
