FAIR TRIAL ? SHAM LEGAL SYSTEM- A FAIT ACCOMPLI COURT- CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE DAY WHEN THOSE POODLE JUDGES IN CAMEROON WOULD STAND TRIAL FOR BETRAYING A NATION. Former Prime Minister, Ephraim Inoni and the former Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Jean Marie Atangana Mebara, have each been sentenced to 20 years in jail Wednesday, for embezzling millions from the state. Otele Essomba was acquitted while Kevin Walls got a life sentence in absentia. These judgments were passed during a plenary hearing in the case which pitted the State of Cameroon and Jean-Marie Atangana Mebara, Ephraim Inoni, Otélé Essomba and Kevin Walls prosecuted for siphoning state funds worth FCFA 287 million. The prosecution had argued for a life sentence on Inoni and Mebara. But the court decided otherwise, sentencing each of them to 20 years instead. The Examining Magistrate, charged Inoni with swindling FCFA 1.4 billion. The money was said to have been the surplus of a huge amount of money that the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH) disbursed for the payment of arrears related to the leasing of planes to CAMAIR. He was accused of grabbing the surplus when the money was paid through an account at the Standard Chartered Bank, which the former Prime Minister served at the time as Board Chair. Atangana Mebara was given the same charge. The duo reportedly made illicit financial gains in the business of plane leasing between the defunct Cameroon airlines, CAMAIR and Aircraft Portfolio Management, APM. The same charges were levied against British national, Kevin Walls, then General Manager of APM London and Otele Essomba, then General Manager of APM Cameroon. Chief Inoni, 66, who is the traditional ruler of the Bankingli village in Fako Division of the Southwest Region, was arrested on April 16, 2012. He has since been held at the Kondengui prison in Yaoundé. He denied all accusations leveled against him. Mebara has been in Kondengui since 2008
