FAIR WARNING- My emotions are a little bit raw right now, but I need to address this issue. First of all... it was MY mistake. Yes, I do outsource the first 500-700 words of article content (when I even take on article writing jobs which I rarely do) for the sake of getting my research and base done for me. Then I proof, edit and rewrite, for persuasion. MY mistake was in trying to rezip the edited articles. They dont overwrite when you do that. I did know that, but I forgot it. So what Jason got was the original research articles that I outsourced, which were not edited and re-written by me. When he contacted me about it yesterday morning, he sent me a file from his client, stating that the client had only read 1 paragraph and knew that the articles were no good. He also stated that the articles were too long. When I saw the paragraph he was referring to, I realized, almost immediately, what had happened. I explained it to Jason, and asked him to give me a few hours to get it corrected, as we had a death in the family this week and Im trying to make travel arrangements, (along with the logistics of child care, their school, and work). *Because he mentioned that they were too long, I knew I was going to need to chop even my own rewrites down a bit... so I needed to go over each one with a fine tooth comb. I started to locate my revised articles, and chop, while also trying to make my travel arrangements... (while sitting on hold with airlines, car rental companies, hotels, etc...) Well, a few hours turned into all day, Until after 10pm when I finally just couldnt keep my eyes open anymore. I went to go lie down to just close my eyes for a few minutes... I passed out. When I awoke this morning, I discovered a PM from Jason, demanding a refund, then a message that he had opened a dispute in PayPal, and a message from one of my mods about the post he made last night, that the mod had deleted. The first thing I did was to send Jason one of the ones I had completely proofed, edited, rewrote and chopped and asked him to have a look at it. I told him that if he still wanted MY writing, I would get him the rest... and if he still wanted a refund, that I understood. Thats when he told me that *I* had deleted his post and banned him from the group. I did neither. I did see Kims post stating that though she did not delete Jasons post, that they would not allow it to stand while I wasnt here to defend myself. Which I appreciate. I then checked with the mod who did delete the post and asked her if she had booted him from the group and she did say she may have accidentally booted him, that she panicked. I dont know if I would have deleted his post or not, probably not. But even if I had, I certainly would not have booted him from the group for it. I take full responsibility for the screw up. I apologize to Jason for sending the wrong file to begin with, and for not getting the right file to him within the few hours promised. I truly did not expect to be so blindsided by trying to make travel arrangements for a 1200+ mile round trip, or for the barrage of emotions stemming from the need for it. All that said, Im going to go on record and say that all Jason had to do was tell me he wanted a refund and I would have sent it. There was no reason for him to open the dispute with PayPal. and I would never plagiarize anything... thats why I rewrite the content I outsource, even if its excellent content. If you get nothing else out of this.. remember, you cant overwrite whats in an already zipped, zip file!
