FAIRBURY – Area residents will have a chance to support the Alzheimer’s Association with a Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday, Sept. 8. The walk will be held at the Fairbury City Park, with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m. The walk will begin at 2 p.m. An estimated 386 residents of Jefferson County and 44,000 residents of the state of Nebraska suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease. The Alzheimer’s Association is a nonprofit volunteer health organization dedicated to accelerating the progress in prevention, cure and living with Alzheimer’s Disease. The funds raised through the Walk to End Alzheimer’s are used to provide and enhance programs to help families across the country; advance research studies into methods of treatment, prevention and ultimately a cure; and speak up for the needs and rights of those facing Alzheimer’s through our public policy initiatives. Business sponsors are currently being sought to donate $100 or more and have their business name on the T-shirt. Checks should be made out to the Alzheimer’s Association and sent to Lana Likens, Jefferson Community Health Center, P.O. Box 277, Fairbury, NE 68352 by July 18. Each participant who raises $50 dollars or more in contributions for the Fairbury Walk will receive a Walk to End Alzheimer’s T-shirt.
