FAISALABAD: City Police Officer (CPO) Sohail Tajik said on Wednesday that a sub-inspector named Yasir Javaid had notresigned from the Faisalabad Police as claimed during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sit-in on Tuesday. Tajik, who claims he had joined the police as an assistant sub-inpsector in 2000 and was promoted to the rank of sub-inspector in 2008, said records were examined as soon as the claim was aired, and it was discovered that no person by that name (Yasir Javaid) was on the roll of the police. According the PTI, Javaid claimed he had been asked by his superiors to torture PTI activists, and had resigned from his post as he could not execute the orders. CPO Tajik said he had claimed that his belt number was 861 — a claim examination records had refuted. He further said no assistant sub-inspector had been inducted in 2000, neither were there any records present regarding his appointment and subsequent promotion. Further, Tajik said his belt number could not be verified. He said the phone number provided in the claim belongs to Javaid Iqbal, a resident of Kabirwala.Etribune
