FALLING IN LOVE WITH GOD by John Hibbert God is not interested - TopicsExpress

FALLING IN LOVE WITH GOD by John Hibbert God is not interested in us being religious; whether we are Anglican or Pentecostal, Catholic or Methodist. The plan of salvation was never to produce religious people, but to produce people who are in love with God. Jesus came to buy back the fellowship that man had with God in the beginning. The most awesome, indescribable experience available to human beings is to fall ‘head over heels’ in love with the Almighty. Many of you know what it is to be truly ‘in love’ with your wife or husband, where there is no perfect way to express your love because it is so powerful that it goes beyond your ability to demonstrate. If you ‘Christians’ will step over the plastic, phoney life offered by religion, can you imagine the indescribable joy and beauty of being ‘in love’ with God, this pure and wonderful Perfect One, the irresistible and wholly incredible God? The first thing to do is admit that you are not ‘in love’ with Him. Religion will tell you that you are; that you’re OK; that providing you read your bible, say prayers and be faithful to the church, you’re fine. This is not true. You are just in a kind of ‘arranged marriage’ with no love, no excitement, no real heart commitment and no joy. Then you need to seek Him for a revelation of who He is and of His love for you. Go to the cross of Jesus and bathe in the love that pours from the wounds of Christ. You need to see Him for yourself. It is not enough just to believe in what you have been told; you need to meet this wonderful Lord for yourself. Go with no preconditions or preformed ideas. Throw away the religion and embrace the Saviour. Be prepared to persist until you have your encounter with Him. This is the most amazing and valuable relationship available to humankind. It’s worth fighting for!
